ICYMI: Alleged Robber Buys Cigarettes, Returns With Mask and Gun to Shell

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Police responded on April 2 at 12:44 a.m. to Shell on Lincoln Street for report of an armed robbery. The clerk said a man dressed in black wearing a mask had robbed the station with a handgun and fled.

The alleged robber entered the store, purchased cigarettes, and left. About seven minutes later, he came back into the station, partially masked, and pointed a gun at the clerk demanding money and forcing him into the rear office. The man got away with about $400 and fled.

Detective Brian Cox of the Marlborough Police Department developed a suspect who lived a short distance from Shell. On April 4, police located Gustavo Rodriguez, and searched his residence, finding evidence linking him to the crime.

Rodriguez was charged with armed robbery while masked, and held without bail.
