Marlborough Candidate Profile: David Doucette For City Council
The incumbent councilor shares why he should be re-elected to Marlborough City Council in a Patch candidate profile for the 2019 election.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough has several contested races within the City Council election, including a five-way race for Ward 1, a two-way race for Ward 2, a four-way race for Ward 6 and an eight-way race for Councilor At Large. Marlborough's mayoral race is also split into three ways — the field of mayoral candidates will be narrowed after the Oct. 8 preliminary election.
Marlborough Patch asked candidates in the contested races to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
"Managing the growth of our city and be sure we don't loose our small city culture."
I want to be sure zoning changes and other regulations don't drive small business our of our city.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have an engineering degree, business degree and over 30 years of high tech experience.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform:
I feel the city needs to address climate change in a way that reduces our consumption of fossil fuels. Deploying solar panels, installing geothermal, these approaches reduce emissions in our city and saves the city money in the long run.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have a track record of listening to the citizens of ward 2 and small business owners. If you have a concern or issue with the city, reach out to me.
The best advice ever shared with me was ...
Democracy is not a spectator's sport.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I can't express my gratitude in representing Ward 2 in Marlborough City Council for the past four years and hope to earn the opportunity to represent them for the next term.
