Marlborough Coffee Shop Celebrates Reopening, Marks 8 Years In Business

The Coffee Loft unveiled renovations during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held in December.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough coffee shop recently reopened its doors after months of renovations and is now getting ready for a major anniversary.

The Coffee Loft reopened after completing updates to its Lincoln Street location. The renovations, which began in May, included converting a former art studio into an additional seating area. The new space was officially unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held in December.

The business received a grant from the Economic Development Association and support from the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon-cutting, according to the business's owner, Jackie Musorofi.

The Coffee Loft first opened at 406 Lincoln St. in 2011 with Deborah Fairbanks as its owner.

The cafe's location was the former home of Marlborough Wire Goods and Space Age Electronics, according to the Marlborough Historical Society. But in 2008, it underwent substantial renovations in 2008 to become a loft-style condo building.

“I am particularly grateful for owning not just a business in Marlborough but the Coffee Loft specifically, as I used to be a regular at the Coffee Loft before it closed down,” Musorofi told Patch. “It was my favorite spot to do homework, and I always loved the energy of the space.”

Musorofi said that the art studios behind The Coffee Loft played a big role in inspiring her to pursue a business.

“The fact that there are art studios behind the coffee shop is so unique," she told Patch. "This was where my dreams of owning a business were first born.”

The Coffee Loft serves coffee, tea, breakfast and sandwiches. It also hosts different community events throughout the month.

There's an Open Mic Night on the first Saturday of each month and Community Collage Club on the third Wednesday of each month. The business also plans to launch new events this year, including monthly game nights and craft workshops.

The Coffee Loft also has a new section, complete with gifts, craft kits, merchandise, and creations from a resident artist and other featured local artists and creatives.

"Our walls act as a rotating gallery featuring works of local artists," Musorofi told Patch. "We want to support local as much as possible."

The Coffee Loft is now looking ahead to its anniversary celebration.

“The time has flown in many ways, but it reminds me of the saying, 'the days are long but the years are short.' It makes me proud to see,” Musorofi told Patch.
