Marlborough Schools Extends Deal For Superintendent, Names Finance Leader
The Marlborough School Committee announced changes for the school district during its meeting on Tuesday.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — The Marlborough School Committee announced changes to the school district's leadership during a meeting this week.
Marlborough Public Schools announced that Jason DeFalco, who had been serving as the district's interim superintendent, has been granted a contract extension. The School Committee also appointed Mohammed Siddiqui as the new director of finance and operations during its meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 13
Superintendent DeFalco will now serve in the leadership position for another 4 years, following the school committee's unanimous expression of confidence in his commitment to the district. He will stay in the role through July 1, 2030.

"Dr. DeFalco is dedicated to our students, families, and staff, and he is focused on driving positive change while strengthening our school system," the school district wrote in a statement.
DeFalco has nearly 25 years of experience in public education. Before working in Marlborough, he served as superintendent of Blackstone-Millville Regional School District for seven years.

During the same meeting, the School Committee announced the appointment of Siddiqui to lead district finance operations. Siddiqui has a decade of experience in school district finance, most recently at Worcester Public Schools, the school district said.
He will begin serving as the head of the finance department on Tuesday, Jan. 20. He will oversee financial operations and guide projects involving transportation and other operations.
"It was clear from our conversations that Mohammed has a deep understanding of financial planning, a commitment to public education and experience aligning school district budgets to directly support the district's strategic plan. He brings years of experience, which will support innovation and facilitate our operational procedures,” said Superintendent DeFalco in a statement. “I am eager to work with him and enhance our financial and operational strategies.”
