Zika Case Reported in Marlborough
Emergency teams reportedly went to the Marlborough home of a woman who had contracted the Zika virus.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — There is reportedly an instance of the Zika virus in Marlborough.
EMTs were called to a mobile home on Tavitian Boulevard Monday night, responding to a call for a woman who was suffering with symptoms from the Zika virus, reports Wicked Local Marlborough. The woman had reportedly visited Puerto Rico, where she contacted it, and was vomiting and feeling lethargic.
She was transported to Marlborough Hospital around 9 p.m.

According to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention map, as of Aug. 10, 58 people from Massachusetts had contracted the Zika virus while traveling.
On Aug. 12, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, at the request of Gov. Alejandro García, declared a public health emergency for Puerto Rico, signaling that the current spread of Zika virus poses a significant threat to public health in the commonwealth relating to pregnant women and children born to pregnant women with Zika.
