Four organizations are spearheading clean-up in Medfield on Saturday, April 27. The Town of Medfield DPW and God Loves Medfield are hosting more Town-wide work. The Medfield Chapter of Savvy Women's Alliance and the Charles River Watershed Association are also sponsoring the clean-up along the Charles at route 109.
This is CRWA's 20th Annual Earth Day Clean Up. CRWA coordinates over 3000 volunteers at 100 sites along the Charles and its tributaries to collect litter and remove invasive plants. For the past 3 years, CRWA has been nationally acclaimed for the number of volunteers mustered and the amount of trash collected at its single-day event. Cleaning up the river and its banks helps improve water quality and fosters volunteers' connections to the 80-mile resource in the local neighborhood.

Long sleeves, pants, and sturdy footwear are necessary for the river clean up (Participants may encounter poison ivy, briars, ticks, and mosquitoes; and access to the Charles is steep). It is recommended that children under 12 help out at one of the other God Loves Medfield or Town of Medfield DPW clean-up sites, due to the traffic along route 109 and the steep trek to the river. Note: Town of Medfield DPW clean-up extends to Sunday, April 28.
