Deputy Chief Wilhemi takes over as Interim Chief
OnTuesday, July 30th at the Board of Selectmen Meeting, the official appointment of Deputy Chief Wilhelmi as Interim Medfield Police Chief.

On Tuesday, July 30th, Police Chief Bob Meaney shook hands with Deputy Chief John Wilhelmi in congratulations as he was appointed the Interim Medfield Police Chief beginning Saturday, August 4th. Chief Bob Meaney retired on Friday, August 3rd.
Wilhelmi has been part of the Medfield Police department for 30 years and he shared the following with PATCH.
- Wilhelmi started on the MPD in June 1979 as an Intern from Northeastern University.
- 1979-1983 Intern dispatcher
- 1983 appointed Permanent Intermittent Officer- worked patrol
- 1983-1984- appointed provisional Officer working patrol
- 1984-1986- full-time dispatcher
- 1986-1987- provisional officer-working patrol shifts
- 1987-appointed full-time officer
- 1989-1993appointed Sergeant working as a patrol supervisor
- 1993-2001
- Administrative Sergeant to the Chief of Police (Admin. Sergeant in charge of the Court Officer, Detectives, and dispatchers, wrote grants etc....)
- 2001-2015 Patrol Sergeant/ Training Officer
- 2015-2016- Court Prosecutor
- 2016-appointed departments first Deputy Police Chief
- 2018-appointed Interim Police Chief
- Wilhelmi has only worked on the Medfield Police Force
This interim position will continue until a full-time Chief is chosen, which should take approximately 4-6 months. Wilhelmi is married and has 4 children and 3 grandchildren and has a Bachelors degree from Northeastern University in Criminal Justice.
