Eighteenth Week - Wednesday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In 1956 Selectmen looked to replace Turnpike Bridge, which crosses the Charles River on Main Street, Route 109 at the Millis-Medfield line and which was built in 1909. The travelled way of the bridge was only 23 feet wide which was further reduced by two-foot gutters on either side, which caused a dangerous condition of travel. The selectmen of Millis and Medfield petitioned the Department of Public Works to survey the bridge and consider widening it. The new bridge was completed in 1958."
