Eighth Week - Friday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In 1941 the six-inch Shell oil transmission pipeline was completed through the town of Medfield. It runs from Fall River to Waltham and then to Worcester. The line entered the town at Walpole, crossed Granite Street, South Street, Causeway Street, Main Street near the Charles River, continued along Bridge Street and Grove Street, crosses Adams Street and West Mill Street near the junction and then follows the RR tracks to Sherborn. In 1980 a break took place in the pipeline behind St. Edward Church on Spring Street, resulting in the release of over 23,000 gallons of gasoline into the adjacent wetlands before it was detected and sealed."
