Eighth Week - Saturday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.
A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In 1909, the Medfield Horse Thief Detecting Society was activated with a great deal of excitement by a report that a horse named Blacky was missing. The horse eventually turned up and it was generally supposed that it was a put-up job to give the society further reason for existing. This was the last reported “stolen” horse in Medfield. The Society continued to meet, however, for social purposes. The Medfield Horse-Thief Detecting Society was organized on April 15, 1858. The purpose of the organization was to detect and run-down horse thieves. The Society continues to
meet to this day with an annual meeting, dinner and social. This year, meeting was cancelled, however, due to the Coronavirus." **Including both 1950's and 2019 Medfield Horse Thief Society pictures!
