A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"Front page headline in the local Medfield Index newspaper in 1954 announced “Medfield Marine Awarded Medal.” The article said: “PFC Allan Larkin of the U.S. Marine Corps has been awarded ‘for heroic service during operations against enemy in Korea on 19 March, 1953’ the U.S. Marine Corps Medal of Military Merit. The medal, awarded by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, was forwarded to Allan’s brother Robert Larkin, owner of the Medfield Package Store, after being presented ‘with appropriate ceremony’ by the Commanding General of the Second Marine Division."
