Fifteenth Week - Friday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In March of 1936 Medfield and Southern New England was hit with one of its worst floods in history. The winter of 1935-36 was very cold and the ice on the ponds and rivers became very thick. During March of 1936 heavy rain and strong winds broke the ice up into large chunks. The Causeway Bridge over Stop River was knocked off its foundation and floated out into the meadow. The Dwight Street Bridge over the Charles River connecting Medfield to Millis, off Causeway Street, was completely destroyed. Despite several town meeting attempts to replace the bridge; it was never replaced."
