A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"The last known Native-American resident of the town, Lucy Bran, lived in the house at 661 West Main Street, just past the cemetery. She was a known weaver and was a member of First Parish Church. At the time, when attending service there, she was forced to sit in the gallery section of the church, which had been set aside for non-white parishioners. The Historical Society has her Bible. Lucy died in 1835 at the age of 87."
