A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In 1903 Medfield High School closed in order to save money and give the students “superior educational advantages.” Medfield High School students could attend school at either Dedham or Walpole High Schools. The students were given a dime each day to ride the train from the Park Street Train Station to attend one of the out-of-town schools. In 1904 Medfield High School partially re-opened when the town voted to maintain a two-year school. In 1906 they added a third year and in 1907 reintroduced the four-year high school, where it has been ever since."
