Sunday, September 8, is the Intergenerational Ingathering at the 355-year-old First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 26 North Street, Medfield.
The Rev. Dave Egan, minister, said, “Today’s service will include a Water Communion. The Water
Communion is a UU ritual, usually conducted in the fall when friends and members return from their summer travels.

They are invited to bring a sample of water from their travels or water that has other significance for them. All of the samples are poured into a common bowl to signify coming together again. It's a way of symbolizing that many are one, and a way of getting reacquainted. Don’t forget to bring a small sample of water from a spiritually significant place (near or far) to add to our communal
bowl. I invite you to bring a friend!”
The Sunday service begins at 10 am. This service will be intergenerational, i.e., with the participation of children as well as adults. Religious education classes will begin September 15.

At the end of the service the minister and congregation disburse the water back into the earth, watering the grass, shrubs, and flowers around the church.
Following the service, everyone is invited to remain forcoffee and refreshments and to catch up with friends that they may not have seen over the summer months…or make new friends who are joining us for the first time.
