A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In 1661 Robert Hinsdale “brought up” a bell for the Meetinghouse to be used by the town. As it was proposed to the town, Hinsdale wanted to know if Medfield would buy the bell or not? He offered to sell it to the town at cost or he would be willing to exchange the bell for land on Boggestow Brook (now Millis). Town Meeting voted to grant him 46 acres of land along Boggestow Brook in exchange for the bell."
