A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In 1931, for the first-time, village delivery of mail began, mainly those streets around the center of town. Mail boxes were placed at the corner of Green and North Streets, Main and Brook Streets and Main Street opposite Park Street for the convince of those mailing letters. Each new resident provider had to provide a mail box or door slot at their home. All homes and businesses in the delivery route had to have street numbers displayed outside their door. Before this time all mail had to be picked up at the post office in the individual postal boxes."
