Grand Opening for New Playground Announced by Hinkley Helpers and Medfield Park & Recreation Department

Kids invited to cut the official ribbon alongside Senator Rebecca Rausch, Representative Marcus Vaughn, Norfolk County Commissioner Richard Staiti.

Get ready to climb, slide, and grin from ear to ear: the playground at Stephen Hinkley Memorial Park will officially open at 12:00 p.m. on September 15, 2024!

Nearly three years after a parent in Medfield wondered, “Can we build a new playground?,” the community rallied alongside the Hinkley Helpers to support the newest inclusive and accessible playground in Metrowest while Medfield Parks & Recreation brought the complex building process to completion.

An American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant of $250,000 awarded by the Norfolk County Commission was a catalyst for the fundraising efforts, which totaled more than $300,000 over the course of two years from local businesses and residents. Now, Hinkley Helpers and Medfield Parks and Recreation are eager to host a celebratory event with food, activities, music and more for Medfield and surrounding towns who supported this defining community project.
