HINKLEY POND & SWIM TEAM INFO

Thinking of summer? We are too! Get ready with a membership to Hinkley Swim Pond, and join our Medfield Marlins swim team!

Now that April Vacation is over and summer is right around the corner, I wanted to let everyone know that registration is now open and available for our summer jewel, Hinkley Swim Pond , and assorted activities that happen at the Pond.

Memberships are now available for purchase for the summer. Family memberships, which include all immediate family members in your household, is $75 for Medfield residents and $150 for non-residents. Other membership options include individual resident ($40), individual non-resident ($75) and daily guest fee ($5 per person per day, payable at the Pond).

With a membership, you are eligible for a 25% discount on swim lessons all summer long! We offer lessons daily during the week (Monday – Friday) from 11am-11:30am or 11:45am – 12:15pm. The lessons are offered for Level 1 (beginner), Level 2 (fundamental aquatic skills) and Level 3 (stroke development). Lessons start the week of July 4 and registration is available online (we do not accept registrations at the Pond).

Hinkley Swim Pond is scheduled to open for the season on Saturday, June 18 (weather dependent) and will be staffed through Saturday, August 20. We will be open daily from 10am – 6pm. Staff at the Pond include lifeguards, aides and supervisors. We will have a snack stand that will offer cold beverages, ice cream and other snacks for purchase. The water at the Pond is tested daily and treated on a schedule to keep the water clean and safe for all to enjoy. We will start the process for opening the Pond next month, with the help of the town DPW, when we completely drain it, dredge the bottom and truck in Cape Cod sand to bring the beach back to life.

Our other major event at the Pond is our Medfield Marlins summer swim team! The Marlins swim team is open to Medfield youth only ages 5-18. We are lucky to have back with us this summer our two experienced coaches, Karen O’Connell and Michelle Pound! They not only bring a ton of enthusiasm to the team, but both have a wealth of knowledge and experience with aquatics and with the Marlins.

The Marlins participate in the Summer Suburban Swim League and there are typically two meets per week, held on Tuesday or Thursday evenings starting at 5pm. Our home meets are held at Hinkley Swim Pond! Daily practices are held at the Pond at 10am, and we also offer pool practices in the evening at the Dedham Recreation Pool.

The fee to participate on the swim team is $199, but members of the Pond will receive 25% off that price at checkout. The fee includes all the meets, regionals and team practices both at the Pond and at the Dedham pool. The fee does not include a swimsuit or swim cap, but information on how to purchase those will be provided at our orientation meeting (date to be announced).

More information is available in our summer brochure, available to pick up at the Pfaff Center or Town Hall. You can register for a Pond membership , swim lessons or swim team by clicking the appropriate link, and can always check www.medfieldrec.com for Hinkley Pond updates and medfieldmarlins.org/ for swim team information, including this summer’s meet schedule.
