Medfield Shows Support and Solidarity...
Sunday afternoon's Solidarity Gathering in Medfield grew larger as the hour between 3pm and 4pm ticked by. An estimated 1,000 people showed up to support the cause. Both young and old held signs with many messages of support for Black Lives Matters.
Organized by Medfield resident, Sarah Jenks and others in the community, Jenks had this to say after the event concluded, "I was so excited to see so many people come out today for racial justice and equality, especially Medfield's young people who took the lead and made it their own. We need to turn the passion we had today into long term change in this town and beyond. This is just the beginning."
Medfield's Chief of Police Michelle Guerette, along with Deputy Larz Anderson and other officers participated and spoke with those lining the streets and read the signs held by supporters. "I would like to thank the organizers of the vigil for collaborating with MPD to ensure a smooth and peaceful event. I am constantly reminded what an engaging community we have in Medfield. I fully expected that our residents would comport themselves in a peaceful way and we were not disappointed." said Guerette.

Shortly before 4pm, a group of students began a march up North Street toward the Police Station and many followed reciting, "Black Lives Matter". The group stopped at the Dale Street School circle and took a knee for 8 mins and 46 seconds honoring George Floyd. Those who continued to line the sidewalks also took a knee at 4pm in remembrance and in acknowledgement of the tragic death of Floyd.
Jenks' also wanted to add that the group is collecting donations for Black Lives Matters Boston and some anonymous community members will be matching donations. Anyone who wishes to donate can donate online and if they would like a receipt, they should email Sonia Kramer at soniakramer6@gmail.com.

Guerette also stated, "I am happy to report that there were no negative actions for us to deal with. It was my honor to be able to walk and greet so many people and demonstrate that WE the police stand alongside our community."
