Human Trafficking Teen Panel Discussion - Feb 12th...
Survivor Speakers and representatives from anti-trafficking organizations, health and law enforcement will gather to discuss the prevention, detection and recovery for those affected by commercial sex exploitation and trafficking on February 12, at the United Church of Christ in Medfield, MA.
Panelists include survivors Chelsea Buckley, and Anita Cunha from Bags of Hope Ministries, a recovery support organization, Christine Cullinan, a Norfolk County Assistant District Attorney, Heather Wightman, Founder and Executive Director of RIA House, a Framingham service provider for women affected by the commercial sex trade, Rachel Niemiec (DPH), Pediatric Nurse Examiner, Giovana Ortiz-Barrera, member of the Massachusetts Coaltion Against Human Trafficking (MCEHT) and UNICEF Community Fellow, and Michelle Luhrmann, Founder and President of Amila’s Light, a non-profit that empowers survivors of commercial sex trafficking through a vocational training and wellness program in Kampala, Uganda, and raises awareness through its youth ambassador programs.
The event will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at United Church of Christ in Medfield, 496 Main Street 7 to 9 pm. The free event is for adults and high school students.

A5, a Medfield High School Club, supported by Amilia’s Light, works on an annual project to highlight the dark world of commercial sex trafficking and exploitation, with a focus on what is happening locally in our towns, throughout Massachusetts, New England, and the U.S. Anyone interested in learning more, or starting a local ambassador group, please contact janetjimenez@yahoo.com.
Amilia's Light is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that empowers survivors of sex trafficking through programs and projects that foster survivor dignity and self worth. Their primary project is the 10,000 Lights Women’s Centre in Kampala, Uganda, where those affected by sex exploitation and trafficking receive trauma support, medical treatment, counseling, mentoring and vocational training.
