Master Planning Committee Holding Workshop on Hospital Reuse Alternatives

The Medfield State Hospital Master Planning Committee is pleased to invite you to our Public Meeting and Workshop at the Blake Middle School Gymnasium on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 7pm to 9:30pm. Please add us to your calendars!

We are narrowing down the alternative scenarios and would like to get your feedback. Kathy McCabe and her team from McCabe Enterprises Consultants will present two scenarios that are the result of a collaborative process that includes input from three key sources: (1) MSHMPC, (2) public input through meetings and surveys, and (3) the expertise of McCabe Enterprises. The focus will be on:

• potential uses of the properties (SEE MAP in Images),
• market priorities,
• building and land assessments,
• infrastructure considerations, and
• financial analyses.

We will use your comments and feedback to help in developing a preferred development scenario -- which may be a combination or modification of the two alternatives. It will also be used to identify priority features and elements for inclusion in the final development and implementation plans.

Our goal is to involve you directly and intimately in this process. Your feedback is critical to us and we will use several ways of gathering your input. We will be listening to you throughout the evening.

The format will be a little different than the last workshop we held on February 7th in the High School Cafeteria. The agenda will begin with short presentations presenting an overview and summary of the two alternatives and analyses of their impacts and implications. We will then break into small “round-table” discussion groups to get your comments and feedback facilitated by one of our committee members. We will also employ hand-held, electronic polling devices to gather your individual responses to a few key questions allowing us to instantly tabulate your responses. Finally, incorporating all of these steps and information, we will summarize the conclusions in a closing presentation.

We encourage you to attend this meeting and workshop on one of the most important decisions ever faced by Medfield that will have everlasting implications for our community and the neighboring communities.
