Medfield’s Matt Pembroke to run Falmouth for Cure SMA
On August 16th, Matt Pembroke, MHS 2013 graduate, will be doing something very special for his former Big Blue team statistician, William Johnson. Matt has been training this summer to run the Falmouth Road Race for the Cure SMA team in William’s honor. Matt is no stranger to honoring his old teammate with fundraising. Back in 2013 when Matt was captain of Medfield’s Varsity Basketball team he arranged to bring back a lost tradition of hosting a Big Blue vs MHS Faculty game and he made the event honor William and raise money for William’s disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The family fun evening raised over $3,000 for Cure SMA, the non-profit organization working tirelessly to find a treatment or a cure for William. Matt hopes to have the same success as he collects pledges to support his run in Falmouth this August. If you would like to support Matt’s run please go to his personal fundraising page to make a donation at: http://events.curesma.org/goto/RunForWilliam. If you would prefer to mail your pledge for Matt, you may send it to: Run for William, 3 Hospital Road, Medfield, MA 02052. Checks should be made payable to Cure SMA. Donations big and small are so appreciated by Matt, William and his family. Together we will find a cure. For more information on Spinal Muscular Atrophy go to www.curesma.org.
