Animal Shelter receives $2,000 Grant!
The Medfield Animal Shelter is pleased to announce they are a recipient of a $2,000 grant from Youth in Philanthropy at the Foundation for MetroWest’s program at the Fenn School.
The Foundation for MetroWest serves as a resource, leader, and catalyst for philanthropy by connecting donors with nonprofits, and nonprofits with each other across the MetroWest
region. Their Youth in Philanthropy program offers a unique real-world approach to provide local youth the knowledge to become leaders in the community by learning the importance of
philanthropy and the needs that exist in our collective backyard.

As part of their participation in the program, a group of Fenn students researched many nonprofit organizations in the region and liked what they learned about the Medfield Animal Shelter. They set up a meeting and asked lots of great questions about how the Shelter operates and how it is funded. “We were so impressed by the students participating in the program,” said Mike Barta, the Medfield Animal Shelter’s president. “We were honored to be one of the three recipients the students selected to receive grants and are grateful for the $2000 we were awarded at a ceremony in early March.”
The Medfield Animal Shelter plans to use the money to help fund its new Doggie Day Out and
short-term foster program.

About Youth in Philanthropy at the Foundation for MetroWest
Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) is an experiential leadership development program offered through the Foundation for MetroWest designed to empower and educate local youth to become our community’s next generation of philanthropists–those who give their time, talent and treasure

About the Medfield Animal Shelter
The Medfield Animal Shelter's mission is to rescue lost or abandoned animals and provide for their comfort and safety until they are reunited with their owners or placed in new homes. It is a no-kill shelter, which means no pet will ever be euthanized because it has run out of time to
find a home. The Shelter is committed to ending the overpopulation of pets that results in an estimated 5 million companion pets being euthanized at shelters in the U.S. every year, therefore all cats, rabbits and dogs adopted from us are spayed and neutered prior to adoption. The Shelter also sponsors a low costs pay/neuter clinic for cats at the shelter once a month, as well as two feral
cat clinics each year.
