Medfield FD Announces Six New Automated AEDs Installed
The Town of Medfield received a grant to purchase and install six new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and cabinets at the sporting fields throughout the town.
These AEDs will be available all year round, and the cabinets are climate-controlled to protect them from weather conditions and lighting has been installed over them for visibility and security.
Additionally, the cabinets also serve as an emergency call box in case of an emergency. When the cabinet is opened, a local alarm will sound to draw attention that someone has opened the cabinet. More importantly, the cabinet will automatically dial 911 and the person who opened it will be able to speak directly to the dispatcher over speakerphone.

There is also an emergency call button that someone can push even without opening the door to speak to the 911 dispatcher directly.
For security purposes, when the AED box is opened, the camera will take a snapshot of who opened it, along with some other security measures.

These six added to the eight previous AEDs that were installed at the 1)Town Hall, 2) the Medfield Public Library, 3) the Public Safety Building, 4) the PFAFF Center, 5) the Center at Medfield (COA), the 6) Medfield Town Garage, 7) the Transfer Station and 8) the Waste Water Treatment Plant - all purchased previously with another grant results in a total of fourteen Town-Owned Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) available to the public if needed.
The new AED's are located at the following fields:
- McCarthy Park (Near the maintenance building)
- Metacomet Park (Near the snack shack)
- Memorial School (On the building near the baseball fields)
- Wheelock School (On the right side of the building near the baseball/softball fields and playground)
- Blake Middle School (Near the scoreboards between the softball & baseball fields)
- Medfield High School (On the press box near the football field)
