Makerspace Staffed Hours

Wednesday, Nov. 6, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Free; no registration required

During Staffed Hours, patrons of All Ages can drop in to the Makerspace to learn about the equipment, tools and toys we have available, or to try something new with staff on hand to help. We've got a sewing machine, vinyl cutter, 3D pens, and jewelry making, embroidery & duct tape craft supplies-just to name a few! We'll also have a craft or activity set up and ready to go if you're unsure of what to try. And don’t forget, the Makerspace is open and available for use anytime that the library is open for everyone aged 16+ and/or children accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Reversible Cloth Napkin Workshop

Thursday Nov 7, 1:00-2:30 p.m.

Free; registration required

Come in and make a couple of festive cloth napkins to liven up your holiday table! This is a great project for anyone who wants to learn how to use a sewing machine, as it's just sewing straight lines. All skill levels are welcome in this workshop! (Once you see how easy these are to make, you may want to go out and get your own fabric so you can make enough for the whole family. There's always a sewing machine set up in the Makerspace at the library for your use, or you can check out a sewing machine to take home from our "Unusual Items" collection if you don't have your own.) Space is limited. Please register.

Knitting Clinic & Club

Thursday Nov 7, 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Free; no registration required

The Knitting Club is back and better than ever! Knitters of all skill levels from never-held-a-pair-of-needles to I-make-sweaters-for-all-my-relatives are welcome in this drop-in social session. Our resident Master Knitter, Cindy, will always be around and ready to help you get started on your first-ever attempt at knitting, or to help you decipher a complicated pattern, fix a mistake, or just to talk about how much you love to knit!

Beginners: we'll have needles and yarn to get you started. You can even check them out and take them home, so don't forget your library card!

Knitting Clinic and Club will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. There's no need to register (just drop by anytime!) but if you would like to get an email reminder, please feel free to register.

Family Create, Play, & Learn!

Tales Of A Reluctant Traveler- Performance and Author Visit with Randy Ross

Tales Of A Reluctant Traveler is the story of how a Boston homebody turned a solo trip around the globe into a comedy novel and an acclaimed one-man show. This is going to be a fun one, so please join us for this multimedia event that's got it all: a humorous slide show, readings from Randy's novel, God Bless Cambodia, and performances from his show, The Chronic Singles Handbook!

This event will be of interest to comedy lovers, writers, and anyone interested in world travel. Seating is limited. Please register.

Dungeons & Dragons Club

Join our ongoing group of D&D-ers. Don't know how to play? Come learn! All levels welcome. Meets bi-weekly on Fridays of each month. Led by Dungeon Master Jay. Open to grades 6 and up.

Read to a Dog

Saturday Nov 16, 1:00-3:30 p.m.

Free; registration required

Kids can sign up to read to specialized therapy dog for 15 minutes. Bring your favorite book or pick any from our collection to share with a furry friend. The main objective of this program is to provide a relaxed and "dog-friendly" atmosphere, which allows children to practice the skill of reading without being judged or assessed. Reading improves because the child is practicing the skill of reading, building self-esteem, and associating reading with something pleasant - special time spent with a dog!

Ages 5 and up with an adult. Registration required. Register by visiting or calling the Children's Desk.

Parachute Play

Monday, Nov 18, 10:15-10:55 a.m. & 11:00-11:40 a.m.

Free; registration required

Children and their caregivers are invited to ring around the parachute with music, games, a story and a craft! Ages 2-5 with an adult. We even have two different time options, so pick the one that suits you best. Funding for this program in provided by Walpole CFCE. Registration required as space is limited. Registration begins on November 4.

TEEN ADVISORY BOARD - Get Involved with Medfield's Town Master Plan!

Storytime - Preschool Pageturners

Ages 3 – 5. This program for preschoolers is designed to encourage the love of books that help develop important early literacy skills. On Nov. 13 & 14, the kiddos will have a chance be involved in Medfield’s Town Wide Master Plan, with a special “Our Neighborhood of Tomorrow” theme! Participants are encouraged to separate from their caregiver for the first part of the program, but we ask for help with our craft at the end. Please note, there are No Storytimes on Nov.27 & 28.
