Medfield Lions Recognize Blue Moon’s Support of Annual Chowder Fest
The annual Medfield Lions Chowder Fest has been a fall tradition for the past seven years. Lion Tony Centore manager of the event has seen it grow and change over the years. Tony remembers “in the first year we guessed on the amount of chowder and ran out before noon. We doubled the amount of requested chowder the following year and got it just right.”
Each year the Lions tally up the votes for best chowder and several local restaurants/caterers have taken the honor of “Best Chowder”. The winner for the 2015 event was J&L Catering of Medway.

There is one key supporter of the Chowder Fest that receives much praise but no specific award. That person is Dan Freedman of Blue Moon Bagel Café who lovingly provides fresh baked delicious rolls. Each year Dan’s warm and chewy rolls are used by the chowder-tasting crowd to mop up the rich creamy chowder. So therefore the Medfield Lions were pleased to present Dan with the “Best Rolls in Town” Award which Dan eagerly added to his wall of accolades.
Those who are “Moon” fans know that the dedication and hard work of Dan and his family have made the “Blue Moon” a Medfield tradition, The Freedman family continue to support local charities such as the Red Cross blood drive, the Lions Coat Drive among many others. They really are what make “Medfield Special”.
