Medfield Public Library offering "HOLD Takeout"

MPL offering a new "Hold Takeout" service to check out books, DVDs and other items while the library building remains closed to the public.

NEW! "Hold Takeout" at the Medfield Public Library

The Medfield Public Library is very excited to now be offering a new “Hold Takeout” service to check out books, DVDs and other items while the library building remains closed to the public.

To participate, place holds using your library account through the Minuteman Library Network website find.minlib.net, through the Minuteman Library Network mobile app (available on Apple and Android devices), or by calling the library at 508-359-4544. Then, wait for holds to be filled. You will be notified by email or phone call or you can check your library account.

Finally, book an appointment on our website at https://www.medfieldpubliclibrary.org/hold-takeout/ or by calling the library. Appointment times for hold pickup will be Monday – Thursday, 11 am – 1 pm or 4 pm – 6 pm and Friday and Saturday, 11 am – 1 pm. Any time during your appointment window, you can come to the library entrance where a library staff member will be waiting. Once you give the staff member your name, you will get you items which have already been checked out to you and bagged for your safety and convenience.

Vigilant measures have been put in place to maintain social distancing at all times.

At this time, delivery between libraries is not yet operational, so to get items fastest, place holds on items which are available at the Medfield Public Library. Not sure about how to do any step of his process? Looking for a book or movie recommendation that we have available in our collection? Please call the library at 508-359-4544 or email at medfield@minlib.net.

Library staff will be available to assist and answer questions during our staffed hours, Monday – Thursday, 10 am – 6 pm and Friday and Saturday, 10 am – 2 pm.

The library is also restarting our Library Outreach Program, so individuals who are homebound or do not feel comfortable leaving the house at this time can sign up to have books delivered to their homes. For more information and to sign up, visit the library’s website at https://www.medfieldpubliclibrary.org/borrowing/outreach/ or call the library at 508-359-4544.

Returns of regular library items, including books, DVDs, audiobooks, and playaways can be made at any time using our exterior book drops (one is a pull drawer on the front of the building to the left of the front door and the other is in the alcove attached to the back of the building, accessible by the small parking lot off of Pleasant Street). They are both open at all times. If you have larger items that cannot fit into these book drops, please return them in the bin outside of the library during our staffed hours. The library quarantines items for at least 72 hours after they come in, so it will take longer than usual for items to come off of library accounts.

The library is also continuing to take book donations during the library building’s closure, and those can be dropped off at the front door during the staffed hours listed above.

The Friends of the Medfield Library are also excited to begin selling hand-selected “Grab Bags” of used books very soon!
