Medfield Passes Plastic Bag Restriction!
On April 29, at the Town Meeting, Medfield residents voted overwhelmingly to pass Article 29, a restriction on plastic bags at checkout in stores and restaurants.
The vote marked Medfield as the 100th community in Massachusetts to officially ban single-use, thin film bags at checkout.

Since our vote, additional towns in MA have also voted to curb plastic bag waste.
The ban will go into effect on Nov. 1, 2019 and will not include non-handled bags used inside stores, such a produce or deli bags, or newspaper bags and garbage bags.

Now is a great time to begin stocking up on reusable bags, which are available for purchase at a number of local stores. Many items such as bread, apples and paper products come wrapped in plastic or bagged, please consider reusing these items for pet waste, trash liners, etc.
