Please SUPPORT Medfield Music Students - Sun 9/22

We hope you will choose to support the MHS Music Department's Mattress Sale Fundraiser this Sunday, Sept. 22, from 10am-5pm MHS Gym.

The following provided by Co-Presidents and Vice President Elect, Medfield Music Association.

Please Support Medfield Music Students

We hope you will choose to support the Medfield High School Music Department’s Mattress Sale Fundraiser this Sunday, Sept. 22, from 10am-5pm in the MHS gymnasium.

It might surprise some to learn that, every music trip year, there are students right here in Medfield whose families are unable to afford some or all of the cost that must be paid by families so their children can travel and perform with their music ensembles. The school does not provide funding to these families, regardless of the level of need. In fact, should the music teachers find themselves unable to access funds through school-led fundraising or the parent booster group, these students would simply stay home.

In the last few weeks, there has been a lot of misleading information shared about the current Mattress Sale fundraiser, whose goal is to raise financial aid for students who wish to attend this year’s high school music trip.

Specifically, a single town resident has raised allegations in The Patch and Hometown Weekly about the fundraising company, Custom Fundraising Solutions (CFS). To this end, Medfield’s Music Director, Mr. Jason Bielik, recently had a conversation with Mr. Sean Hildenbrandt of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office about CFS and some of the concerns that had been raised.

Mr. Hildenbrandt read the September 18 Patch Neighbor Post and clarified the following:

  • The Attorney General’s Office is not investigating or “scrutinizing” CFS. Further, the Attorney General’s Office confirmed that the action items necessary to be completed are either complete or are in the process of completion. Mr. Hildenbrandt explained that it can take several months before the Attorney General’s Office updates its website database with all received documents.
  • Mr. Hildenbrandt shared that companies engaging in “commercial co-ventures” are commonly unaware of the variety of policies/requirements. Mr. Hildenbrandt stated that he has been communicating consistently with a CFS representative to take care of required items since June/early July.
  • Mr. Hildenbrandt explained that the Attorney General’s Office does not make any determination regarding the effectiveness or value of any fundraiser or sale. It simply makes sure the proper paperwork is filed.

We sincerely hope, if you are in the market for a mattress, luxury pillows, sheets, or mattress protectors, you will attend the Music Department’s mattress sale fundraiser event on Sunday from 10am-5pm in the MHS gymnasium. It would be a win-win to buy a high-quality, discounted mattress and support our talented and hard-working music students.

Sincerely,

Lynne Clifford
