Dale Street School Principal, Steve Grenham, was recognized as a Patriotic Employer by the Office of the Secretary of Defense for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America's National Guard and Reserve Force.
Grenham was nominated for the award by Dale Street School 5th grade teacher, Elizabeth Burnham, who is serving as a Captain in the Army Reserve.
When asked for Grenham's reaction to this honor he stated, "When the gentleman from the National Guard presented me with this award, I was completely surprised and very honored. I have the highest respect for the individuals who serve (and have served) in our military. Being recognized by the true heroes in our society was an extremely humbling experience. I am grateful to Elizabeth Burhnam for nominating me for this award - she is an amazing person. Elizabeth's gesture is one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me."
