Reading "LEAP Letters".....4 years of waiting!
A group of Dale Street School students had quite the LEAP DAY surprise visit from their 1st grade Memorial School teacher, Mrs. Ravinski.
Reading "Leap letters"...It was Worth the Wait!
In 2016, Memorial School first grade teacher, Kathy Ravinski asked her students to write a "Note to Self" on Monday, February 29th...LEAP DAY!
Quite possibly, this group of students forgot all about these letters, but Ravinski didn't. She sealed them tight and had them stored in her school desk drawer for 4 years.
On Friday, February 28, 2020, Ravinski surprised 16 of these students at Dale Street School. These fourth graders were unexpectedly called from their classrooms at 8:45am, and instructed to go to the Dale Street School cafeteria. All of them were quite surprised to see Mrs. Ravinski waiting to say hello and give them a hug.

Still uncertain as to why they were all getting together, Ravinski showed them the letters, and explained that TODAY was the day they would open them and read what they wrote to themselves so very long ago.
The students were both excited and a bit worried...some questioning if there might have been a few spelling errors in their 1st grade writing, but Ravinski calmed their fears, telling them not to be concerned about that.

She handed out the letters an they opened them all at once and the students couldn't help but chuckle about what they had written when they were "young" and shared their letters with their former 1st grade classmates.
The gathering concluded with taking a photo of the group. Mrs. Ravinski held a copy of their 1st grade Class photograph and each student held their own "Leap letter".
It was a brief "Class Reunion" and a fun get together and one that these fourth graders will remember for a lifetime.
