Second Week - Monday's "Medfield Historical Minute"

A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In 1654 Medfield voted that the Annual Town Meeting would be held on the “first second day of December.” The town meeting would commence at 9:00 am. Attendance would be taken and those not on time would be assessed a fine of 12 pence. Those who missed the entire meeting were assessed a fine of 3 shilling and 9 pence. In general Town Meeting lasted most of the day. Everyone could attend but only male church members, who were required to attend, could vote. A break was taken for lunch."
