A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"On January 5, 1958 an Over-all Operational Plan of the Civil Defense Agency was issued. In the plan in the event of a nuclear attack or other national emergency, Medfield would serve as a reception center for the towns of Medfield, Dover and Westwood and would be responsible for feeding, clothing and sheltering these evacuees. The plan provided for many service organizations necessary to carry out this work. Police, fire, medical, welfare, information, radiological and rescue included. The plan was to be distributed to all citizens in Medfield and explained so that the action to be taken would be fully understood. Medfield Civil Defense Director was Walter Reynolds with Buck Buchanan, Deputy Director."
