Seventeenth Week - Monday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In September 1980 the selectmen accepted the resignation of Ruth Luke from the Park and Recreation Commission due to her relocating out of town. Ruth also served the town for many years as the Animal Control Officer. Selectmen said that she “would be greatly missed by the town residents, young and old, who had benefited from her tireless efforts on behalf of the town of Medfield.” Mrs. Luke was instrumental in the establishment of the Youth Center, the Youth Advisory Committee and the Medfield Animal Humane Society and was the founder and organized the first annual Christmas Parade. She worked for years with the Four-H Club and was the high school Majorettes coach. The selectmen proclaimed September 14, 1980 as Ruth Luke Day in the Town of Medfield."
