Sixth Week - Saturday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In 1929, an automobile driven by Jerome V Murphy of Dorchester and containing two other passengers hit a freight train at the Main Street RR Crossing. All three were rushed to Norwood Hospital where they suffered from bad cuts and bruises. One of the passengers, Claude Harvey, 23 of Quincy, had his right foot amputated after it was severed at the ankle. This was before Medfield had crossing gates at that location and the gatemen, who warned traffic of oncoming trains, only cover the crossing until midnight and as the crash took place at 2:30 in the morning, the crossing was unattended."
