A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In June, 1650, came the pioneers, 13 in number, who came from Dedham to settle the town and locate their house lots. Lot #1 was given to Ralph Wheelock. His lot extended from the corner of North and Main Street down to the corner of Main Street and Upham Road and extended south down to the area of Oak Street. Lot #2 went to John Ellis, who lived where the Thomas Upham Nursing Home is today. Samuel Bullen’s lot was near Philip Street by South Street. Daniel Morse was located near Main and Pound Streets. James Allen, Joseph Clark, Francis Hamant and John Turner chose their lots on South Street. Timothy Dwight and John Frairy were located on what is now Frairy Street. Robert Hinsdale was located on North Street, just north of Vine Brook. Thomas and John Wight had their homes on what is now Green Street."
