A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In 1890, for the first time, a flagpole with American flag was flown over the schoolhouse. During the year a nation-wide movement took place with interest in our country’s flag. The flagpole and American flag was attached to the Centre School (Ralph Wheelock School) on Pleasant Street. School Committee members said: “This is a most praiseworthy object. The fostering of the spirit of patriotism should have a leading place in the education of our children.”
