Third Week - Monday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.
A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In 1888, local newspaper accounts reported problems with young people in Medfield. The Dedham Transcript, covering Medfield, reported that “Problems have risen from young people who congregate on the sidewalk in front of the store of Julius A. Fitts (now site of Starbucks at the corner of Main and North Streets) every evening from 6:30- 8:30 pm. Up to 30 young men have been found making themselves an unmitigated nuisance to all passerby, especially ladies. Coarse remarks and rough laughter are the rule. Ladies have been forced to walk in the street. The wife of a prominent citizen found that her dress had been spit upon. These are the same boys who patronize the kitchen dives and make night hideous in Medfield.”
