Third Week - Wednesday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.
A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In 1898 Medfield was hit by the Great Lightning Storm of 1898. The Second Congregational Church (today’s UCC Church) was damaged by a lightning bolt that struck the north side of the spire, some 10 feet below the weather vane and tore away the entire north side of the spire. Many houses in town were damaged by lightning strikes. Many of the finest trees in the town were damaged by the high winds. Telegraph and telephone lines were down all over Medfield. The stable belonging to Susan Ware on South Street was moved from its foundation. Twelve chimneys were blown down and the washouts upon the streets were numerous."
