A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"Hannah Adams, Medfield’s best-known historian and nationally known author and feminist, was born in Medfield on October 2, 1755. She developed a small circle of female friends who “had a mutual love of literature, want of fortune and indifference to the society of those whose minds were uncultivated,” served to cement a union between them that remained throughout their lives. This group has been called the First Woman’s Club in America of which we have any record, an honor to Medfield that has often been overlooked. Out of this first women’s club arose Hannah Adams, who became the pioneer of female authorship in America."
