Thirteenth Week - Tuesday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In 1926 the First Baptist Church celebrated its 150th Anniversary. Ceremonies began at 10:45AM with an historical sermon on the history of the church by former pastor Rev. Silas Morse. Morse told of the founding of the church on August 18, 1776. The original house of worship was located on West Main Street (584 Main Street). Thomas Gair was the first pastor who was ordained at the age of 23 and preached at the church until 1787. The old meetinghouse was enlarged twice and soon became too small. A new church was built on the corner of Main and South Streets in 1838. The historical sermon was followed by a union service of all the town’s Protestant churches and celebrations ended with a banquet under the auspices of the Ladies Social Circle."
