Thursday is Farmers' Market Day in Medfield
a small but diverse market is found weekly on the lawn of the historic Town Meeting House in Medfield
If it’s Thursday, it must be Market Day in Medfield. As Farmers’ Markets go, it probably would be considered small, but comprehensive. Each week approximately twelve farmers and other vendors set up on the lawn of the historic First Parish Meeting House on North St., beside Meeting House Pond, with festive canopies or trucks from 2 untill 6:30 p.m. Although it is a rain or shine event the vendors may cancel at the last minute, especially if the forecast is for dangerous storms. Checking the First Parish or vendors’ websites or Facebook pages may avoid disappointment
As usual among Farmers’ Market vendors, there is always a farm stand selling fresh vegetables, fruit and even bouquets of flowers. Visit White Barn Farm for whatever is seasonable, for instance: cucumbers, squash in many summer varieties, tomatoes, corn, beets, and eggplants. This farmer also has a wide variety of fresh herbs and the farm is located in Wrentham, a close neighbor to Medfield. Internet users are encouraged to like its Facebook page as well as its web page for up to date information.
The Schilling Farm of Medfield sells fresh eggs. A dozen might contain a variety of sizes and colors depending on the type of chickens that are laying this week. Little Beehive Farm has a beautiful one acre garden in Holliston that attracts honey bees and supplies its table with both raw honey and honey-made products such as soaps, lotions and candies and also has a great Facebook page. Food vendors including Jordan Brothers Seafood also can be found selling, fresh from the Boston market, fish and shell fish; ready to eat or take home for dinner food items can be found under the Wagwan Jamaican jerk food tent; prepared and fresh paleo diet items are offered from the Panjea truck and jellies, jams, pickles and breads are the homemade delicacies under the Confectionary Creations canopy.

The only coffee found at the Starbucks table is in the bags of used grounds donated to customers with instructions for use in home gardens. However, lemonade is often found at the First Parish Bake Sale table. There is even a table sponsored by the First parish church members that helps keep little ones busy while parents shop. In addition, church ladies bake and staff the Bake Sale Table that donates all its profits from its home baked pies, breads, cookies and biscuits back to the church for maintenance on the historic site, whose story dates back to the founding of Medfield when the original building on this site was the Town Meeting House. Customers may eat and drink their snacks while sitting at the small tables provided by members. Financial support for the market is also provided by The Needham Bank.
Although the market tries to limit vendors to one-of-a- kind, there are two soap makers that attend on an intermittent basis, MDS Soaps and Sherborn Soaps. Also occasionally, Juice Plus can be found selling smoothies and healthy fruit and vegetable juices. The Holistic Wellness Center of Medfield may explain the benefits of reflexology, reiki, massages and other wellness techniques and has specialty items for sale as well. During the month of August, Art by Nicki will not only display finished jewelry pieces but often the artist is busy crafting them during the market hours. According to her website, selenite jewelry has calming and stress reducing benefits as well as beauty.

A weekly trip to the market allows customers to eat from the farm- to-the table and continue to support their neighbors. Parking is located behind the church and along North St.
