A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In 1658 Town Meeting voted to pay 20 shillings for the sweeping the meetinghouse (First Parish Universalist-Unitarian Church) and beating the drum. The drum was used to call the people together to the meetinghouse on the Sabbath and other public occasions. The individual hired to beat the drum did so from the roof of the meetinghouse so the sound could go throughout the town."
