Medford Police Inviting Families To National Night Out At Hormel Stadium

The annual event is held on the first Tuesday in August in communities across the country.

MEDFORD, MA — The city's largest community event of the year is scheduled to return next week as the Medford Police Department invites residents to National Night Out for an evening of family activities, public safety demonstrations and opportunities to connect with local first responders and community organizations.

The free, three-hour event is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 5 p.m. at Hormel Stadium. It marks the fifth consecutive year Medford has hosted National Night Out.

The event will feature police, fire and specialty vehicles, K-9 demonstrations, live performances from local groups, games, activities and giveaways, along with free food and refreshments. Residents will also have the opportunity to meet Medford police officers, firefighters and other first responders, as well as dozens of local businesses, community organizations and partners expected to participate throughout the evening. Families will also have the opportunity to meet Batman, Spider-Man, and Chase and Skye from the show Paw Patrol.

According to the department, National Night Out is intended to bring neighbors together while strengthening relationships between first responders and the community. The annual event is held on the first Tuesday in August in communities across the country and was established in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch. The campaign is designed to strengthen police-community relationships, promote neighborhood involvement, and support crime prevention efforts.

Admission is free and open to the public.
