Real Italian Gusto opened downtown at 24 High St. in 2015 after the Ronzios relocated to the Boston area from Italy. The couple said they wanted to bring authentic Italian cuisine and dining traditions to Medford, serving dishes prepared with a mix of locally sourced ingredients and specialty products imported from Italy.

The restaurant became known for its Neapolitan-style pizzas, homemade pasta and traditional Italian entrees. Its menu also featured panini, salads, desserts and an extensive selection of Italian wines, beers and espresso drinks.

They also announced that Ebisuya Market will take over the space. The company has not yet released full details about the new venture however according to its website will soon return to the city as a restaurant and bakery.

Ebisuya previously operated a Japanese market at 65 Riverside Ave. in Medford for more than 15 years before closing in 2025 after the company said it learned the building housing the business would be demolished. The market was known for its Japanese groceries, sushi, ramen, baked goods and other prepared foods.

Ebisuya's bakery department and kitchen are currently operating out of 64 Summer St. in Malden while preparations continue for its return to Medford.
