Motorcycle Delivery Dispute Leads To Medford Woman’s Arrest In Maine

The woman is accused of striking a motorcycle with the weapon before trying to hit a person as well.

MEDFORD, MA — A resident was arrested after reportedly swinging an axe at a man during an argument over a motorcycle delivery in Maine, according to the Rumford Police Department.

Luciane Dezan, 46, was charged with attempted elevated aggravated assault and aggravated criminal mischief on Sunday, Oct. 25. Rumford police officers responded to Madison's Condos at 1257 U.S. Route 2 at approximately 11:57 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, after receiving a report of a woman attacking a man with an axe in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found that the two people had separated and the confrontation had ended.

According to police, the 44-year-old man who lived at the condos had arranged through social media for Dezan to transport his red 1984 Honda GL1200 motorcycle from his former residence in Northborough to Rumford. When Dezan arrived, the man discovered damage he believed had occurred during transportation. An argument began after he confronted her about the damage and said he was unwilling to pay the full agreed-upon transportation fee.

Dezan reportedly retrieved an axe from her van and began repeatedly striking the motorcycle. When the man attempted to intervene, Dezan swung the axe toward his head, narrowly missing him. The man moved his head out of its path and was not injured.

Police estimated that the motorcycle sustained approximately $2,000 in damage during the incident. The confrontation was captured on video, and the recording was provided to investigators as evidence. A deputy from the Oxford County Sheriff's Office assisted Rumford police at the scene.

Dezan was taken into custody and transported to the Oxford County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000 cash, with conditions requiring her to have no contact with the man and to stay away from his residence if released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
