Along the Road to The Paul Revere House

by Debbi Collar

The historic homes series continues. As mentioned in a previous article, "Along the Road to The Rebecca Nurse House," the homes that the written articles will focus on will be those that are directly located on main roads throughout cities and towns in New England.

Many are within easy view of the more heavily trafficked areas. Commuters sometimes pass by them on a daily basis on their way to work but many people don't find the time to go back to explore the history of the houses. This month's suggested tourist attraction is one of the most famous historic homes. It is The Paul Revere House.

Although cars travel throughout the streets of the North End in Boston, it's foot traffic that is heaviest as tourists walk the Freedom Trail right to the door of the family home of Paul Revere.

Although the history of Paul Revere's ride and its connection to The Revolutionary War is well known, it is still worth a visit to the house itself and its gardens. More history about the man and his family, as well as other events in his life, are discussed by the tour guides. If traveling through the area in the month of April, another event to checkout is The Lantern Ceremony at The Old North Church. It is a night filled with music of fife and drums, speakers relating stories connected to the event and the re-enactment of the lanterns being hung from the steeple.

Don't pass it by, take the time to explore Paul Revere's family home to learn more of the history of its occupants.

Admission to The Paul Revere House only (as of this writing)

Adults $5.00
Seniors and College Students $4.50
Children (ages 5-17) $1.00
CASH ONLY FOR ADMISSION
