Weekend Boarding Changes Coming To Melrose MBTA Station

Melrose riders looking to take the Commuter Rail inbound may have to pivot this weekend.

MELROSE, MA — Passengers at a local Commuter Rail station will face temporary boarding changes this weekend as accessibility improvements continue at the stop.

One side of Wyoming Hill Station, located off Franklin Street between West Wyoming Avenue and Glen Road, will be shut down for construction, Melrose City Hall announced. The inbound side of the station will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 12, before work shifts to the outbound side on Sunday.

Trains will continue running in both directions throughout the weekend, but passengers will be redirected to the opposite side of the station to board and exit trains while each side is closed. Temporary directional signs will be placed throughout the station, while customer service representatives will be available on the platform both days to assist riders.

The temporary changes come as Wyoming Hill undergoes a series of accessibility improvements expected to be substantially complete by late fall. The MBTA said the project will improve accessibility and the overall customer experience while bringing the station into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Planned upgrades include new ADA-compliant mini-high boarding platforms and ramps, along with other improvements meant to modernize the station's infrastructure and accessibility features. Wyoming Hill is one of three MBTA Commuter Rail stations in Melrose and is currently not accessible for passengers with disabilities.
