Archdiocese of Boston Excellence in Education Award
Mr. Mark Flint of St. Mary's School in Melrose Named a Recipient

The Archdiocese of Boston Catholic Schools Office, with support from the Catholic Schools Foundation, is excited to announce Mark Flint as one of the first recipients of the prestigious Archdiocese of Boston Excellence in Education Award. This annual award honors elementary and secondary school teachers’ commitment to developing saints and scholars in the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Boston. Flint will receive $1,500 and be honored at a luncheon in May with Cardinal Seán O’Malley and Superintendent of the Archdiocese of Boston Catholic Schools Kathy Mears.
ABOUT MARK FLINT
Serving as both a mathematics and religion teacher at his alma mater, St. Mary of the Annunciation School in Melrose, MA, Mark Flint has become renowned for his rapport with students. Teachers have come and gone, but Flint has been a constant at the school for over 30 years. With a strong reputation as an excellent mathematics teacher, he is often sought after by parents. Mr. Flint takes a personal interest in all his students. As one parent described, “To say that Mr. Flint is an excellent math teacher is an understatement. He takes the term, ‘no child left behind,’ to a whole new level. On more than one occasion, I would receive an email from Mr. Flint telling me that he noticed my son seemed to be struggling with a math concept that he was teaching. He would ask me to please have my son come for help after school so that he could assist him before the class moved on. Mr. Flint continues to do this for each and every student that he teaches.”
